Missing Swimmer

On September 1^st, 2024, at approximately 3:48 PM, The Sauk County Communications Center received a call of a missing swimmer in the Wisconsin River near Peck’s Landing in the Spring Green Township. Deputies, Fire personnel, and Conservation Wardens responded to the area. Once on scene, it was learned that three men had entered the water from a sandbar and were swept away by the current.  One man was able to swim back to the sandbar while another was rescued by a passing boat.  The third man, a twenty-four-year-old from Richland Center, was unaccounted for. 

Members of the Sauk County Dive Team, Conservation Wardens, and the Spring Green and Lone Rock Fire Departments searched the river unsuccessfully for the missing man until darkness set in. Search efforts will continue September 2^nd.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Spring Green Fire and EMS, Lone Rock Fire Department, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
