On Wednesday, August 29th, 2018, at about 10:35 am, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department received a call at E4589 Kingfisher Circle in the LaValle Township regarding an individual who had fallen down a flight of stairs and was believed to be deceased. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department, Town of LaValle Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and Sauk County Corners Office all responded.

The initial investigation indicated that James Sikich, age 70, of Illinois, was walking down wooden stairs that led down to Lake Redstone. The stairs had been heavily damaged during the recent heavy rain and storms. Sikich fell near a breach in the stairs caused by an uprooted tree. Sikich fell approximately twenty feet down the steep hill which resulted in fatal injuries.  It is believed that the incident occurred during the late morning hours on August 28th, 2018.

No foul play is suspected.
