OWI 2 Causing Injury Arrest

News Release

On December 22, 2018 at approximately 4:53 PM the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a two-car motor vehicle crash on USH 12 near Sauk Prairie Road in the Town of Prairie Du Sac. An investigation revealed that one vehicle was traveling southbound on USH 12 and struck two vehicles traveling northbound. The operator of the southbound vehicle was Ryan N. Heiner, age 25 of Reedsburg, WI. Sauk County Deputies initial contact with Heiner’s performance on field sobriety tests showed evidence of impairment. Heiner was arrested and transported to the Sauk County Jail.

Heiner was charged with Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense-causing injury and Misdemeanor-Bail Jumping.

Both drivers and an occupant from the two northbound vehicles that were struck suffered minor injuries. All three were transported to an area hospital by EMS.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Sauk Prairie Police Department, Sauk City Fire Department, Sauk Prairie Ambulance and Baraboo District Ambulance Service.

Sheriff Meister reminds citizens during this holiday season that the Sauk County Highway Safety Task Force will join law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” holiday campaign from December 14, 2018 through January 1, 2019. The Task Force is comprised of the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department, Baraboo Police Department, Lake Delton Police Department, Reedsburg Police Department, Sauk Prairie Police Department and the Spring Green Police Department.
