 On Saturday, September 2, 2023, at approximately 11:17AM, a deputy from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department was investigating a suspicious vehicle complaint.  While in the area of the complaint, the deputy observed a vehicle matching the description drive past his location.  The deputy stopped the vehicle in the village of Rock Springs. The deputy made contact with the operator who was identified as Brian J Vertein, age 60 of North Freedom.

While speaking to Vertein, the deputy observed signs of impairment.  Vertein was asked to do field sobriety tests and as a result of those tests, he was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, 3rd offense. That charge is being referred to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office.
