OWI 5 Arrest

On August 20, 2016 at 5:15 pm the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcycle accident on STH 23 near Water Street in the Town of Dellona.    Deputies from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office along with the Lake Delton Fire Department and Dells –Delton Ambulance Service were sent to the scene.    

On arrival Deputies found a single motorcycle and operator laying alongside the road with non-life threatening injuries.   The accident investigation showed that the motorcyclist was heading west on STH 23 when the motorcycle left the roadway and entered the north shoulder and ditch line turning over and ejecting the rider.  

The driver, William P. Raftery, age 58 of Westfield Wisconsin was transported to St Clare Hospital in Baraboo by Dells-Delton Ambulance for treatment of his injuries.    Raftery was later charged with his fifth offense of operating while intoxicated as the result of the accident and transported to the Sauk County Jail.    Raftery was not wearing a helmet and speed does not appear to be a factor.   The accident is still under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office who was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
