On Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at approximately 4:00 PM a DNR Warden located a vehicle wanted in Richland County in reference to a disturbance that happened in Richland County. The vehicle was stopped on STH 60 at Richolson Road in the Township of Prairie Du Sac.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Brian Mertins, age 45 of Racine. During contact with Mertins a deputy with the Sauk County Sheriff's Office noted signs of impairment. Mertins was asked to do field sobriety tests and as a result of those tests, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated - 6th Offense. Mertins was transported to the Sauk County Jail.
A charge of Operating While Intoxicated - 6th Offense is being referred to the Sauk County District Attorney's Office.
Sauk County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Wisconsin DNR and Sauk Prairie Police Department.
