OWI 6TH Offense w/Passenger under 16 years old

 

On January 19, 2018 at approximately 6:04 a.m., a Sauk County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop for expired registration and prior knowledge that an unlicensed driver was operating the vehicle on Meadowview Drive near USH 12 in the village of Lake Delton.  The driver of the vehicle was Antonio R. Lira, age 40, of Lake Delton, WI.  An infant child and adult female were passengers in the vehicle.  The Deputy observed signs of impairment and administered field sobriety tests to Lira.  The tests showed evidence of impairment.  A preliminary breath test showed an alcohol concentration greater than permitted by law.  Lira has 5 prior convictions for Operating While Intoxicated.  

Lira was arrested and transported to the Sauk County Jail.  The Sauk County District Attorney’s Office has filed the following charges: Operating While Intoxicated 5th or 6th Offense w/Passenger under 16 years old, Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration 5th or 6th Offense w/Passenger under 16 years old, and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.  Lira remains incarcerated at the Sauk County Jail awaiting his initial appearance in Sauk County Circuit Court.
