OWI & CCW Arrest

On April 17, 2012 at approximately 7:15pm, an off-duty Sauk Prairie Police Officer was following a vehicle in the area of Church Road and Block Road in the Township of Prairie Du Sac when the Officer observed the vehicle strike some mailboxes. The vehicle came to a stop and Sheriff’s Deputies responded.
The operator was identified as Douglas L. Elsing, age 49, of rural North Freedom, WI. During the course of the investigation, Deputies discovered that Elsing was armed with a concealed handgun illegally. They also discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession. Elsing had been drinking alcohol and was run through standardized field sobriety tests. It was determined that Elsing was intoxicated.
Elsing was arrested and incarcerated in the Sauk County Jail. He has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated 1st offense, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Endanger Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
