Search for Two Canoeists Ends Well

On Tuesday evening at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Sauk County Communications Center received a call of two overdue canoeists on the Baraboo River.  The canoeists started at Highway 33 and Strawbridge Road and were planning on traveling down the Baraboo River to the Dutch Hollow area where they were going to meet a family member at 5:00 p.m.

The river area was searched and the canoeists were found unharmed at about 10:30 p.m.  The delay in their response was due to darkness and various log jams.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the LaValle Fire Department and LaValle First Responders, Wonewoc Fire Department, Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service and a Town of LaValle Police Officer.

The canoeists were identified as Warren Kellner and a juvenile, both from Reedsburg.
