FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 22, 2013

 

     The Sauk Prairie Police Department, Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole, and United States Marshal Service Badgerland Fugitive Task Force is seeking assistance from the public in locating a fugitive last seen in the Sauk City area.

This suspect is identified as:

 

                                    Stephan Christian, age 58

                                    Madison, WI

                                    509 / 200 Brown Hair / Green Eyes

 

     Last seen wearing a navy blue jacket, black pants, and black shoes

     Christian is a Registered Sex Offender.

 

     On March 21, 2013 at approximately 8:40pm the Sauk Prairie Police Department was notified by the Wisconsin Division of Probation and Parole that a subject under their jurisdiction and being monitored by an ankle GPS bracelet and was at the Ace Hardware Store in the Village of Sauk City for an extended period of time.  Probation and Parole had reason to believe the bracelet had been cut off. 

 

     Sauk Prairie Police Officers were immediately sent to Ace Hardware Store and found the business to be closed.  Key holders were contacted and the business was searched.  Officers did not locate Christian; however, they located an ankle bracelet that had been cut off.

 

     On March 22, 2013 the United States Marshal Service and Sauk County Sheriff’s Office are assisting the Sauk Prairie Police Department in the investigation and search for Christian.  At this point the search is focused on the Sauk City area, but it is unknown if Christian is still in the area.  It is believed that Christian may be riding a bicycle as his mode of transportation. Any citizens with any information are requested to call the Sauk County Communications Center at (608) 355-4495 or 911.

 

     As a precaution, the Sauk Prairie Police Department has requested that the schools in the area be locked down at this time.
