Spring Green Crash

On July 26, 2012 at approximately 2:15am the Sauk County Communications Center received a report of a motorcycle crash on Shifflet Road in the Township of Spring Green.  It was reported that this crash was a result of motorcycles racing up and down the roadway.  Sheriff’s Deputies, Spring Green Fire Department and Spring Green Ambulance were sent to the scene. While responding, Deputies were advised that an automobile involved in this crash fled the scene to a trailer at Shifflet Trailer Park.
Responders found the motorcycle in the ditch on Shifflet Road with no driver around it. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that James D. Bowell, age 22, of Lone Rock, WI, was operating a motorcycle on Shifflet Road. Nicole A. Ring, age 21, of Plain, WI, was following him at a reported high rate of speed. Bowell slammed on the brakes and Ring was unable to stop her car and rear ended the motorcycle. Ring and Bowell then fled the scene in Ring’s vehicle.
Both Ring and Bowell were located at a trailer in Shifflet Trailer Park. Both subjects appeared to be intoxicated. Bowell was injured as a result of the crash and was transported to Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital by Spring Green Ambulance. Bowell was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated 2nd Offense and Operating Without a Motorcycle License. Ring was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Injury and was incarcerated in the Sauk County Jail.
