Spring Green Man Suffers Apparent Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound

On Monday, August 9, 2010, the Sauk County Communications Center received a 911 call from a reporting party of a suicidal subject at 601 Sommerset in the Village of Spring Green. Upon the arrival of the first officers on scene they heard a single gunshot. The area was secured and residents were evacuated.

With arrival of additional officers, a member of the ERT conducting a ground search found a male identified as Kevin S Harwood, age 27, of Spring Green, laying on the ground with a single gunshot wound next to a building on the adjacent property. Emergency Medical Services were contacted and responded to the scene to continue his care.
 

Mr. Harwood was transported to the UW-Hospital by UW - Med-flight with critical injuries.

Preliminary investigation leads the officers to believe that the gunshot wound suffered by Mr. Harwood was a self inflicted injury. The investigation is continuing by the Spring Green Police and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

The Spring Green Police Department and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Spring Green Fire Department and the Spring Green Ambulance Service.
