Town of Delton Crash

January 31, 2011

On January 30, 2011 at approximately 2:31pm the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of CTH A and Bunker Drive in the Township of Delton. Sheriff’s Deputies, Dells-Delton Ambulance, and Delton Fire Department were sent to the scene.
The investigation revealed that a 2003 Jeep Liberty, operated by Lisa Pelzek, age 39, of Waterford, WI, pulled into the path of a 2003 Ford Taurus, operated by Virginia Rathman, age 60, from Baraboo, WI, as Rathman was southbound on CTH A. Pelzek had to be extricated from her vehicle using the JAWS of LIFE. Pelzek was transported to UW Hospital by UW Med Flight Helicoptor from the scene. Two minor passengers in the Pelzek vehicle were transported to St. Clare Hospital by Dells-Delton Ambulance, and later released. Rathman, and a passenger in her vehicle, Allen Rathman, age 61, were treated at the scene.
All subjects were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and Failure to Yield Right of Way was a contributing factor in this incident.
