Town of LaValle Business Burglary

On November 29, 2011, at approximately 6:00 AM the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a burglary at Hartje Lumber in the Township of LaValle. The reporting party stated the building had been broken into and a safe was taken.

Upon arrival of the deputy it was determined that someone had forced entry into a couple of different buildings, one lumber shed with stored vehicles and the office and retail sales building. While in the office the person or persons did extensive damage while removing a large floor safe. Also taken from the retail portion of the building were assorted consumable items and power tools. Taken from the lumber shed was a 2000 GMC truck. Initial estimates in the loss are in excess of $10,000, excluding the truck.
