Tractor Fatality

News Release

 On July 2, 2016 at 3:53pm the Sauk County Communications Center received a call regarding a subject who had been injured while operating a tractor in a field in the Township of Excelsior.

 Sauk County Sheriff's Deputies, Reedsburg Ambulance and Reedsburg Fire responded to the scene.  After an initial investigation it is believed that the operator, John E. Elfers, age 76 of Rock Springs, was clearing brush with a tractor mounted mower.  Elfers fell off the tractor and was run over by the equipment.  Elfers received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sauk County Coroner's Office. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Reedsburg Ambulance and the Reedsburg Fire Department.
