Traffic Crash- Town of Fairfield

On July 6th, 2019 at 8:02PM the Sauk County Communications Center was notified of a motor vehicle accident on North Reedsburg Road, .3 of a mile west of County Highway A in the Township of Fairfield. Initial information received by the dispatch center was of a two-vehicle crash with multiple injuries and entrapment. While deputies were enroute to the scene, a witness saw a male and female flee the crash scene on foot, running towards County Highway A. Within a few minutes, deputies located a male and female hiding behind a house.

Preliminary investigation showed that a 2002 Ford Escape was being operated westbound on North Reedsburg Road by Alora D. Kalka, age 21, of Wisconsin Dells. The Ford Escape crossed the centerline and collided with a 2002 Saturn that was being operated eastbound on North Reedsburg Road by Steven P. Sadorf, age 50, of Baraboo. The Ford Escape rolled over several times and both vehicles came to rest in the roadway. 

Sadorf and two occupants of the Saturn, Crystal Loomis, age 32, of Baraboo and a juvenile female, age 11, were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Kalka was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated-Causing Injury 1st Offense, Operating While Suspended-7th offense, Failure to notify police of accident, Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Operating Left of Center Line, Display false registration plates. Kalka also had an active warrant for her arrest out of Dane County.

An occupant of the Ford Escape, Kyle M. Rank, age 21, of Portage was arrested on a probation violation and cited for Knowingly Assisting a Person Fleeing from an Accident Scene.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Baraboo Fire Department, Baraboo EMS, Dells-Delton EMS, and Wisconsin State Patrol.
