Truck/Tractor Crash Kills Prairie Du Sac Man

On Wednesday, September 09, at 5:28 p.m., the Sauk County 9-1-1 Center received a report of a truck versus a farm tractor crash.  The crash occurred on STH 60 east of CTH C in the Township of Troy.

The initial investigation indicated that a Black 2009 Chevrolet Silverado truck was being operated east bound on STH 60 by James Stuettgen, age 46, Prairie du Sac.  The Chevrolet drifted over the center line and hit 1969 International Tractor which was traveling westbound.  The tractor was pulling a chopper box and operated by Dale Smith, age 19, Spring Green.

 Stuettgen was pronounced dead at the scene and Smith was transported to Sauk Prairie Healthcare Center for his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Plain Fire Department, Plain Ambulance, Spring Green Ambulance, Sauk City Fire Department, Sauk County Highway Department, The Kraemer Company, and the Sauk County Coroner’s Office.

Stuettgen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.  The crash remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
