Two Children Injured in the Township of Excelsior

On June 10, 2013 at 4:20pm, the Sauk County 911 Emergency Dispatch Center received a call of two children being struck by a vehicle on private property just outside the Village of Rock Springs in the Town of Excelsior. The Sauk County Sheriff's Department along with Reedsburg Ambulance and Reedsburg Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, it was learned that two children were entering a pickup truck when the truck began to roll backwards down a steep driveway. The pickup had been “knocked out” of gear causing it to roll throwing both children from the truck striking and injuring both children as it rolled backwards.

The two children were both from Rock Springs. One was transported to Reedsburg Area Medical Center by Reedsburg Ambulance and the other was transported by Med Flight to University Children's Hopsital in Madison for non life threatening injuries.

The pickup truck sustained damage as it rolled through a fence and across the road into a ditch.

At this time the investigation indicates that the incident was accidental and has been closed.
