UPDATED NEWS RELEASE

On October 20, 2018 at approximately 12:15pm the Sauk County Sheriff’s Communications Center was notified of a single vehicle crash on STH 23 just north of Elder Ridge Road in the Township of Westfield.

The investigation revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Norman Mauthe, age 85, of Platteville, WI, was northbound on STH 23 when it crossed the centerline and struck a utility pole in the west ditch.  Norman Mauthe was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sauk County Coroner’s Office.  A passenger, Mark Mauthe, age 42, of Platteville, WI, was transported to Reedsburg Hospital by Reedsburg Ambulance.  Both subjects were wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor in this crash.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Loganville Fire and First Responders, Reedsburg Ambulance, Sauk County Coroner’s Office, and Alliant Energy.
