UPDATED SHOTS FIRED FROM 07/24/2024
On Friday, July 26, 2024, the suspect, Jeffrey E. Miller, was found deceased inside of a residence in the Village of Amherst, WI. His death is being investigated by The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigated the involved law enforcement officer’s actions from the night of July 23, 2024, in Sauk County related to the shots fired call. Columbia County’s reports/investigation were then reviewed by the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office. The Sauk County District Attorney’s Office found that given the facts and circumstances presented, there was no basis for prosecuting any of the law enforcement officers involved.
