USH 12 Crash

On February 27, 2012 at 7:52 pm, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle traffic accident on USH 12 near Lehman Road in the Town of Baraboo. A south bound vehicle driven by an ARTURO SALAZAR- MARTINES, age 18 of North Freedom, crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic striking a north bound vehicle driven by VITALY A. CHIGATOV, age 25 of Wisconsin Dells.
CHICATOV suffered facial and head injuries as a result of the accident and was transported to St. Clare’s Hospital in Baraboo by Baraboo District Ambulance Service.
SALAZAR-MARTINEZ sustained a minor ankle injury and was arrested for Injury by Operating While Intoxicated Causing Great Bodily Harm, Injury by Operating with No Valid Driver’s License Causing Great Bodily Harm, Open Intoxicants, No Insurance, Left of Center and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. SALAZAR-MARTINEZ was transported to the Sauk County Jail and is currently being held awaiting a bond hearing.
Baraboo Fire Department assisted at the scene of the accident. The accident is currently still under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
