VEHICLE CRASH WITH AMISH GRAIN DRILL

On July 29th, 2020 at approximately 8:30pm, the Sauk County Communications Center received a call of a traffic accident involving a car and Amish Grain Drill on CTH G near Nash Road in the Town of Woodland. Initial reports indicated that two juveniles and one adult had been injured. Prior to the deputies arrival, a black 4-door car with Illinois plates was observed leaving the scene of the crash, traveling northbound on CTH G. The operator and vehicle were later located at a home not far from the crash scene. 

The initial investigation shows that a 2015 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on CTH G and struck a horse drawn grain drill, which was also traveling northbound on CTH G. The operator of the Honda was Jana T. Campanelli, age 38, of Addison IL. The operator of the grain drill was John E. Yoder, age 46, of LaValle, WI. Two juvenile males, age 11 and 6 were ejected from the grain drill and were transported to area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Campanelli showed signs of impairment and after field sobriety testing she was arrested for Injury by Intoxicated use of a Vehicle, Hit and Run causing Injury and Possession of Controlled Substance.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Cazenovia Emergency Medical Services, Reedsburg Emergency Medical Services and the LaValle Fire Department.
