May 14, 2013

On May 14, 2013, at 11:45 A.M. the Sauk County Communications Center received a call of a vehicle that had struck the Sauk County Animal Shelter in the Village of West Baraboo.  The reporting party stated the vehicle had driven into the building several feet before coming to rest.

Upon arrival of the deputy a vehicle was found in contact with the exterior wall next to the entrance door and that the wall had been pushed into the interior of the building.  The operator of the vehicle, Kristy L. Thompson, age 54, of Richland Center stated that she was in the process of pulling up close to the door to read the hours of operation and inadvertently stepped on the gas instead of the brake causing her to strike the building.   Thompson was wearing her seat belt and was not injured; no one in the Animal Shelter was injured.   There was extensive damage to the building.   Thompson was able to drive her vehicle from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
