Aging & Disability Resource Center Advisory Committee

Monday, June 22, 2020 at 9:00 A.M.

Basement Room B30, West Square Building,

Members Present:  Carlson, Curry, Dorner, Ellington, Waddell, and Wolkowski and

Members Absent:   Rudolph (excused)

County Personnel:  Blodgett, ADRC; Wittmann, ADRC; Zomer, ADRC;

Others Present:   None

 

AGING & DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE QUARTERLY MEETING:

1) Carlson called the meeting to order at 9:06 a.m. and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.

 

2) MOTION (Curry/Ellington) to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried unanimously and agenda adopted.

 

3) MOTION (Ellington/Wolkowski) to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of June 22nd, 2020.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

4) Public Comment: Blodgett read to the committee a Thank you e-mail from a client

 

5) Communications:  None

 

6) Service Reports: Blodgett reported that due to Covid-19 ADRC had to make some changes in the ADRC programs.

a) Nutrition: Blodgett informed the board that ADRC restarted the hot meals from the Health Care center on June 15, 2020. All congregate dining centers were closed and probably will remain closed until end of 2020.This year due to the pandemic GWAAR change the requirements for meals assessments, so every individual over the age of 60 can receive a home delivered meal. In June we were able to restart carry-out meals. Reedsburg dining center was located in Boys and girls club. Due to COVID and health concerns we had to find a new location. The Reedsburg Dining center will be located at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church of Reedsburg.

Blodgett explained to the board that ADRC receive grant money from GWAAR to provide services for our clients. This year due to COVID-19 GWAAR gave permission to transfer funds from the congregate program to Home Delivered Program. All congregate dining centers are closed but the amount of people receiving home delivered meals is increasing. Blodgett submitted a request to GWAAR to transfer funds from congregate to home delivered meals program.  Discussion followed.

 

MOTION (Ellington/Dorner) to approve transferring $136,671 of current year OAA funds from IIIB, IIIC1, and IIID to IIIC2- Home Delivered Meal program, and $56,268 of CARES B & CARES E to CARES C-2-Home Delivered Meal Program.  See attachment to minutes.   Vote all in favor.

            Blodgett informed the board that every year ADRC is preparing a “Blizzard packs” meals for our clients to be delivered in October or November. The Blizzard pack is a bag with shelf stable food products that in case of emergency and we can’t deliver food to our clients they have supplies for at least 5 meals. ADRC would like to apply for a grant from Greater Sauk County Community foundation to cover the cost of the Blizzard packs.

MOTION (Dorner/Curry) to approve ADRC to apply for a grant from Greater Sauk County Community foundation. Vote all in favor.

b) Caregiver:  Blodgett stated that due to COVID-19 pandemic ADRC wasn’t able to do any caregiver meetings.  ADRC is purchased iPads for our caregivers so we can start having some workshops via Zoom.

c) Evidence-based Classes for 2020:  We’re planning to have a virtually Powerful tools class in September 2020 in late fall. We are hoping to have a lot of participants since like last year.

d) Volunteer updates – We are always looking for volunteers to deliver meals. Due to COVID our volunteers need to follow some safety standards.

e) Dementia updates - Reedsburg Dementia group has been meeting virtually. Gina Laack and Brianna Wipperfurth are working on pilot online version of Boost your Brain workshop - 4 Sauk County residents for 8 weeks

 

7) Other ADRC updates: Blodgett informed the board that the 2021 budget is not fully complete.  Discussion followed, no action taken. Blodgett informed the board that due to COVID-19 regulations and the limited space that ADRC have we needed to make some adjustments to utilize the office space – we have social workers sharing offices, so some of them need to work remotely and rotate days/offices.  Discussion followed. No action taken.

9) MOTION (Ellington/Wolkowski) to adjourn until Thursday, November 19th, 2020 at 9:00a.m.  Motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
