Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

Senior Farmer's Market -- A great program for you and your local farmers!

Each summer, the ADRC helps distribute the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition checks. These checks are provided to older adults by the USDA to encourage them to shop at local farmers markets and to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Eligible individuals receive $45.00 in checks which are spent just like cash at approved farmers markets and farm stands.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a resident of Sauk County
  • Must be 60 or older (or 55 if Native American)
  • Income must fall at or below the guidelines listed below

Effective June 1, 2024: based on 185% of US Dept of 2024 Health and Human Services Poverty Guidelines. Use total gross income (before taxes and deductions) of all household members.

Distribution:

We receive a set number of checks that will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please see the distribution sites and be sure to get it on your calendar! This will be the first opportunity to get the checks. You may send a proxy on your behalf if you are physically unable to get to the distribution. The proxy must have a signed note from you and may pick up checks for no more than 4 people.

After Distribution:

If we have checks remaining after the site distribution is complete, we will have them available at the ADRC office for you to stop in or call. There is no guarantee there will be checks available once distribution is complete so please make every effort to attend or send a proxy to the site distribution.
