The need for increased supervision is necessary. The national Child Protective Services ratio with staff is 1:5; currently the Department of Human Services’ ratio is 1:17. The Assistant Supervisor position has been added to the 2019 budget. Motion by James Bowers, seconded by Valerie McAuliffe, to Approve Resolution in Support of Requesting Increased Funding and Oversight Reforms for Wisconsin’s Child Protective Services System. Motion carried.
Department Updates:
F.A.S.T. (Functional Assessment Teams) WEAVR (Wisconsin Emergency Assistance Volunteer Registry) Draft Policy: Dan Brattset discussed the need for volunteers to assist during and after natural disasters. There is a list of Sauk County professional staff as possible volunteers. During disasters, being local or out of state, each staff that volunteers is strictly a volunteer and are not compensated as county employees. Volunteer services from Department of Human Services (DHS) staff may be therapeutic.
Flood Housing Assistance: Dan Brattset discussed the immediate and the long-term relocations. The State does not have much for funding for rehousing victims of the recent flooding disaster. FEMA does not cover loss 100% to the victims of the disaster. After establishing single moms with children are in need, Rapid Rehousing has been assisting with relocation.
