Bid Notice for Rent of County Farm Lands

Sauk County is seeking bids for the rental of three farmland properties:

            1) 261.75 acres cropland with barn and metal shed,  

            2) 22 acres pasture,

            3) 12.9 acre cropland parcel. 

Each item will be bid and leases awarded independently.  

The cropland (261.75 acres), pasture, barn and shed are located at the former Health Care Center property at the intersection of Highway 154 and Highway 23, Sections 27, 28, 33 and 34, Town of Reedsburg. Another parcel of cropland (12.9 acres) is located north of the new Sauk County Health Care Center, in Section 9, T12N, R4E on the west side of the City of Reedsburg.  

The pasture and cropland/barn/shed leases are for a three year period (2015-2018).  The separate cropland parcel is also available for a three year period (2015-2018) with the contingency that Sauk County is issued an annual conditional use permit from the City of Reedsburg. (There has never been an issue obtaining this permit in the past and we do not foresee it being an issue in the future.) 

Informational packets with more details and required bid forms are available at the Sauk County Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Department or on the web: http://www.co.sauk.wi.us/rfps.  All bids must be received at the Sauk County Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Department, 505 Broadway, Ste. 248, Baraboo, WI  53913 before 10:00 a.m., October 31, 2014 on the forms provided. Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes and properly marked as indicated on the required bid form. (See last page of lease information sheets.) Successful bidders will be notified within ten (10) days of the bid opening. 

Cropland, barn, and metal shed for rent – 261.75 acres of cropland located at the former Health Care Center are available farming rotations of corn/soybeans/wheat and also corn/soybeans/alfalfa.  The cropland must follow the prepared conservation plan (included in the bidder’s packet) and an approved nutrient management plan. The barn included in this lease is a 50’ by 130’ wooden barn that is suitable for storage purposes.  The metal shed included in this lease is a 50’ by 90’ metal pole shed that is suitable for storage purposes. The barn and shed cannot be sub-leased or rented. 

Cropland for rent – 12.9 acres of cropland located at the New Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg are available farming rotations of corn/soybeans/wheat.  The cropland must follow the prepared conservation plan (included in the bidder’s packet) and an approved nutrient management plan. 

Pasture for rent - 22 acres of pasture are available for grazing from May 1 through October 1 each year.  The stocking rate is limited to 23 animal units based upon a 1,000 lb. animal unit.
