Horse Camping

Three horses at White Mound horse campground

The horse trails and horse campground at White Mound County Park are CLOSED for the season! We can't wait to see you next year!

For those who bring their own horses, the horse campground (typically open May 24 to November 1) offers 7 campsites, all with electric and water hook-ups. There are also 2 ADA accessible campsites - Horse Campsite 04 and Horse Campsite 05. Horse Campsite 04 is our dedicated ADA accessible campsite. To reserve this campsite, please contact our office. Each campsite has a fire ring, picnic table and hitching posts. The horse campground has portable toilets located in the middle of the campground. A manure collection pad is available at the west end. Day use parking is available along the north side of the campground road. The cost for a horse campsite is $30 per night.

Corral space is provided in two separate areas. The first area is located south of the manure pit, available to anyone staying in Horse Campsites 1 through 6 (first-come, first-served). The second area is located west of Horse Campsite 7, only available to those camping in Horse Campsite 7. Each corral is 14 ft by 14 ft. Temporary corrals of any kind are prohibited. Please contact our office with any questions.

The trails are open May 15th through November 1st weather permitting. Horse camping will be available starting May 24, 2024.

Please note that a Sauk County Park Pass is required on each vehicle. Annual passes are available for $25 for one pass, or $40 for two passes (at original time of purchase). Daily passes are available for $5 per day, per vehicle. State park stickers are not valid.

Reservations for phone bookings and online bookings will open on the first business day of the year. However, early reservation requests may be sent to Sauk County Parks and Recreation between December 1 and December 15. Please check out our full reservation policy for more details.

Please contact our office with any questions you might have. Happy trails!
