Rain Garden Guide

An informational guide for residents wanting to create their own rain garden is now available at the Land Conservation Department (LCD).  The guide comes highly recommended by Serge Koenig, Soil Conservation Technician, who has been the lead contact person for the community rain garden projects in Baraboo.

The guide is called "The Blue Thumb Guide to Raingardens: Design and Installation for Homeowners is the Upper Midwest" by Rusty Schmidt, Dan Shaw, and David Dods.   It provides easy to follow directions, templates, and plant information to help you create your own rain garden- turning rainwater into an asset for your yard, while adding beauty and helping protect our environment.

The guides are available to purchase at the Land Conservation Department located on the second floor of the West Square Building, 505 Broadway, Baraboo, WI.  The cost is $15.00 (tax included).  Cash or checks are accecpted.  Make checks payable to "Sauk County Land Conservation Department".
