School Lunch Program

School Food Safety Program Implementation and Inspection

Schools within Sauk, Adams, and Juneau counties are biannually inspected by South Central Environmental Health Consortium (SCEHC) inspectors. Both private and public schools that serve food are required to develop and administer a food safety program for their food service program. Program highlights are outlined by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), giving schools and inspector’s guidance for implementing and monitoring their programs. Programs reduce risk by targeting key food safety risk factors such as Hand washing procedures, cook temperatures, cooling procedures, and sanitizing/ware washing. The SCEHC inspectors are trained in DPI food safety inspections and are dedicated to providing a standard of safety for the students our schools.
