National Public Health Accreditation

Sauk County Health Department announced today that is has achieved national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). The national accreditation program works to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing and ultimately transforming the quality and performance of the nation’s public health departments.

“We are pleased and excited to be recognized for achieving national standards that foster effectiveness and promote continuous quality improvement,” said Cindy Bodendein, Health Department Director. “The accreditation process helps to ensure that the programs and services we provide are as responsive as possible to the needs of our community. With accreditation, Sauk County Health Department is demonstrating increased accountability and credibility to the public, funders, elected officials and partner organizations with which we work.”

The health department and the three local hospitals in Sauk County work together as the Health and Wellness Coalition. The community health needs assessment identified mental health, nutrition and physical activity and access to dental care as Sauk County’s priorities in 2015. The Health and Wellness Coalition has developed strategies around the priorities to improve the health of Sauk County residents.

“Whenever you see our seal of accreditation, you will know that Sauk County Health Department has been rigorously examined and meets or exceeds national standards that promote continuous quality improvement for public health,” Bodendein said. “By continuing to improve our services and performance, we can be sure we are meeting the public health needs of those we serve as effectively as possible.” Please contact the Sauk County Health Department for more information or questions regarding National Accreditation, call the health department at 608-355-3290
