Sauk County, Wis- Public Health Sauk County is urging people to get their annual flu vaccine. Although it is later in the season, Wisconsin is still experiencing very high rates of influenza. In Sauk County, there have been 55 influenza-related hospitalizations since the start of 2025. This is 9 times the number of hospitalizations seen during this same time last year.

Sauk County, Wis-  The Sauk County Partnership for Prevention Coalition is recruiting high school juniors and seniors to join online discussion groups about health issues that affect teens. Students who participate will receive a $30 Kwik Trip gas card for their time. The Coalition brings together community members who work to reduce youth substance use in Sauk County.

Sauk County, Wis- Public Health Sauk County is pleased to announce that it has recently partnered with Grede Foundry to install a Mamava® Lactation Pod. This serves as a private space for breastfeeding and/or pumping for employees and features a comfortable seat, a shelf and outlet for a breast pump, a built-in fan for fresh air and white noise, and more. Caster wheels on the bottom allow moving the Lactation Pod to other spaces at the foundry if needed.

Sauk County, Wis- The holidays can be a warm and enjoyable time for some, but for others, it can be lonely and stressful. Money problems, grief, loss, and other hardships that are brought on by the holidays can all take a toll on your mental health.

Sauk County, Wis- Public Health Sauk County would like to remind people of the seriousness of varicella, also known as chickenpox. There has recently been an increase in chickenpox cases in the county.

Sauk County, Wis— Public Health Sauk County and SSM Health are excited to announce a life-saving tool in the Lake Delton community: a free public health vending machine inside the SSM Health Lake Delton Urgent Care clinic. The machine offers free Narcan Nasal Spray, Deterra medication disposal kits, and listings of local mental health and substance use resources. These free supplies will be available to all during clinic business hours.

Sauk County, Wis— Public Health Sauk County has partnered with the non-profit organization Start Healing Now to install two Overdose Aid Kits in the bathrooms at Spring Green Community Library.

Sauk County, Wis— National Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, October 26. Local law enforcement is working with community partners to host three drug take back sites in Sauk County:

• Sauk Prairie Police Department from 9am – 12pm
• Spring Green Police Department from 10am – 2pm
• Plain Municipal Office from 10am – 2pm.

Sauk County, Wis— Public Health Sauk County will be hosting an event to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Nurse-Family Partnership®, a national program serving first-time parents and their children impacted by economic inequality. Those enrolled in the program visit with a specially trained nurse beginning in pregnancy and continuing until the child turns two.

Sauk County, Wis. — Public Health Sauk County, local hospitals, and the Ho-Chunk Nation Department of Health will provide two opportunities to hear about the results of their 2024 Sauk County Community Health Assessment. The assessment highlights three health priorities: housing, mental health, and substance use. All are invited to discuss current efforts to improve health in these areas.

(Prairie du Sac and Sauk City, WI) An underage customer walks into a local bar or store and tries to buy alcohol with their driver’s license or state identification card. Do local retailers sell to youth? This test is called an alcohol age compliance check, and these checks have been proven to reduce sales of alcohol to minors.

Sauk County, Wis—  On Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, from 10 AM - 4 PM, Sauk County will host a free community event at Devil’s Lake State Park. The event is family-friendly, alcohol and drug-free, and is open to all Sauk County residents. The event will be held on the South Shore of Devil’s Lake State Park in the White Oak shelter.
